A texture gun and hopper setup like the PC501 is useful for quickly covering large surface areas such as drywall. Not only does it give you a nice textured effect, but it effectively hides imperfections, nails, and tape lines in a single application. This alone can save you a ton of time.

On the downside, hoppers like this are a little unwieldy. When they're full of drywall it can be quite heavy-this is not a one-handed operation. On this model, the hopper handle is bolted on at the top, which makes it a little uncomfortable to hold over long periods of time. The gun works with what the manufacturer refers to as a "four-finger grip"; in other words, you have to exert some pressure to make it work. (If you are worried about the comfort and ease of operation, you may want to shell out a little more money for Kraft's Super-Pro system, which is a little easier to operate.)

Note that the hopper is angled, which allows you to tilt the whole thing upward so you can spray ceilings. This is a nice feature, and it will save you a lot of headache trying to drywall ceilings by hand.

Stucco spraying ceilings is a common ceiling treatment done to most homes. Some uses for stucco is to provide a good-looking stipple finish over primed drywall. Generally it is applied to the common areas of the house like front entrances, living rooms, dining rooms, family rooms and hallways.
A couple of reasons for using stucco is, it's economical and it sticks very well to a large number of different surfaces. Stucco is also a very versatile texture product, you can do many different variations of application with it.
All you do to it is mix it with water. Stucco is a water-soluble powder that is mixed with water and sometimes paint (latex), this is to fortify the stucco for future painting. Stucco is sometimes referred to as popcorn for the ceiling.
Stucco usually comes in a 40 pound bag of texture spray mix. You can start with 4 gallons of water and a stucco mixing paddle.You can use a large drum to mix it up in. I usually use a 5 gallon paint drum and break it into smaller parts since the whole 40 lbs. bag won't fit into the barrel. When it's all mixed smooth with no lumps it's ready to spray.
Make sure that your surface that you will be spraying is clean and dry and solid, make sure that it does not have any powder or oils or greases on it otherwise you will have a problem almost immediately if not immediately. A regular 40 pound bag will cover from about 200-300 square ft.
Ways to spray stucco - The most common way that people install popcorn ceilings is with a sprayer. It has a hopper that you pour the material into.There is a gun directly below the hopper which has a nozzle that has adjustments for size, from a fine spray to a coarse spray. As the hole gets bigger at the end of the nozzle the texture gets bigger and lumpier. To get acquainted with a gun try doing a small test patch first somewhere.
